If you’ve recently received confirmation of a long term medical condition, ADHD or disability that will likely or has already affected your assessments, the process to follow depends on whether your assessments are due to take place or have already taken place.
If your assessments have already taken place and you were impacted by your condition because you did not have a Support Plan in place you need to submit an EC claim. Deadlines apply so it is important to take prompt action.
EC claims relating to late diagnosis of conditions are covered by the Equality Act 2010 and may be considered up to the point of the Board of Examiners decision or via appeal (within one month of notification of the exam board progression or award decision).
More information is available in the Quality Manual.
If your assessments are due to take place soon and you do not yet have a Support Plan you might need to apply for a Support Plan and submit an EC claim. You will need to provide supporting information for both. There are three annual deadlines for requesting reasonable adjustments for centrally timetabled exams and the deadline may have passed for the next exam period. It is recommended that you discuss this with your personal tutor or your academic guide for advice.
If you are worried about assessments, you can find lots of information on the different types of support available here.
